Dongmei began her professional dance training at the age of eleven at the Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy, where she completed six years of intensive and systematic training.
Upon graduation, she joined the China National Song & Dance Ensemble, now part of the China Oriental Performing Arts Group Co., Ltd, and worked as a professional dancer for three years.
She later returned to Beijing Dance Academy to continue her studies in the Department of Chinese Ethnic and Folk Dance, specializing in Dance Performance and Education.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Dongmei remained at Beijing Dance Academy and joined the Beijing Dance Academy Youth Dance Company, where she worked as a professional performer and dance educator.
While continuing her professional career, she pursued graduate studies at Beijing Dance Academy and later received her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree.
After relocating to Vancouver, Dongmei remained active in dance performance, choreography, and interdisciplinary artistic creation. Building upon her extensive professional training in traditional Chinese dance, she gradually expanded her practice as an independent choreographer and creator, bringing together Chinese dance, ethnic and folk dance traditions, and contemporary artistic perspectives.
Since settling in Seattle in 2020, she has continued to focus on dance education and artistic creation, bringing together her professional stage experience, research in traditional dance, and years of teaching practice.
冬梅11岁进入北京舞蹈学院附属中等舞蹈学校，接受六年系统的专业舞蹈训练。附中毕业后，进入中国歌舞团（现中国东方演艺集团）担任专业舞蹈演员三年。
此后，她返回北京舞蹈学院继续深造，就读于中国民族民间舞系表演教育专业。本科毕业后留校，进入北京舞蹈学院青年舞团，从事专业舞蹈表演与教学工作。
在北京舞蹈学院工作期间，她继续攻读研究生课程，后取得 Master of Fine Arts（MFA，艺术硕士） 学位。
移居温哥华后，冬梅继续活跃于舞蹈表演、编创及跨界艺术领域。她逐渐从长期接受中国传统舞蹈专业训练的职业舞者，发展为独立编导与创作者，在传统身体语言的基础上不断探索新的艺术表达，将中国舞、民族民间舞蹈语汇与当代艺术观念相结合。
2020年定居西雅图后，她继续从事舞蹈教育与艺术创作，将多年专业舞台经验、民族舞蹈研究与教学实践融入新一阶段的艺术工作之中。
