Apricot Branch
《一枝红杏》
A Blossoming Apricot Branch is one of Dongmei Huang’s signature solo works and was performed as her competition piece at the 8th Taoli Cup Dance Competition.
The work draws inspiration from the celebrated line by Southern Song Dynasty poet Ye Shaoweng:
“A branch of red apricot blossoms reaches beyond the garden wall.”
Using the image of a blossoming apricot branch extending beyond an enclosed wall, the work explores a woman’s curiosity and longing for the world beyond restriction.
Through movement language inspired by Chinese classical dance and Chinese ethnic and folk dance, the piece examines the tension between freedom and restraint, personal desire and traditional expectations, revealing a delicate and complex inner emotional world.

During the Taoli Cup Dance Competition, Dongmei’s performance received high praise from renowned choreographer Zhang Jigang, Co-Director of the Opening Ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games:
“In her performance of A Blossoming Apricot Branch, Dongmei moves with remarkable freedom and ease while expressing rich emotional depth. She is a dancer with substance and great potential.”
In 2017, Dongmei was invited to perform A Blossoming Apricot Branch at Fall for Dance North (FFDN) in Toronto, Canada.
It was the only solo dance presented in its performance program and received an enthusiastic response from local artists and audiences.
独舞作品《一枝红杏》是黄冬梅职业生涯中最具代表性的作品之一，也是她参加第八届桃李杯舞蹈比赛的重要参赛作品。
作品灵感源自南宋诗人叶绍翁的著名诗句“一枝红杏出墙来”。
作品以一枝越过院墙、向外探出的红杏为核心意象，借由中国古典舞与民族民间舞的身体语言，表现女性在自由与束缚、个人渴望与传统规范之间的矛盾与挣扎，并呈现细腻而复杂的女性内心世界。

2017年，黄冬梅受邀参加加拿大多伦多 Fall for Dance North（FFDN）国际舞蹈节，再次表演《一枝红杏》。

Huang Daopo is a Chinese ethnic dance drama inspired by the legendary life of Huang Daopo, one of the most influential figures in the development of textile technology in ancient China.
The production follows Huang Daopo’s journey to Yazhou, Hainan, where she lived among the local Li people, learned their traditional textile techniques, and later helped improve and spread those traditions.
Rich in elements of Li ethnic culture and dance, the production explores human connection, cultural exchange, and the transmission of tradition across communities.
Dongmei portrayed Fu Qiao, a young Li woman who is warm, spirited, compassionate, and full of vitality.
Fu Qiao becomes an important figure in Huang Daopo’s life in Hainan, sharing Li textile traditions with her and gradually developing a deep sister-like bond. Her courage, sincerity, and fate form an important emotional thread throughout the production.

For her performance as Fu Qiao in Huang Daopo, Dongmei Huang received the Wenhua Performance Award at the 12th Wenhua Awards presented by China’s Ministry of Culture.

作品讲述黄道婆流落海南崖州后，与当地黎族人民共同生活、学习黎族传统纺织技艺，并将相关技艺不断改良与传播的故事。
舞剧融入丰富的海南黎族文化与民族舞蹈元素，展现人与人之间的真挚情感，以及不同民族之间的文化交流与传承。
作品讲述黄道婆流落海南崖州后，与当地黎族人民共同生活、学习黎族传统纺织技艺，并将相关技艺不断改良与传播的故事。

黄冬梅在剧中饰演黎族少女符巧。
符巧热情、爽朗、善良而富有生命力，是黄道婆在海南生活中的重要人物。她将黎族纺织技艺传授给黄道婆，两人逐渐建立起姐妹般深厚的情谊。符巧的性格与命运，也构成了整部舞剧情感表达的重要线索。
黄冬梅凭借民族舞剧《黄道婆》中主要角色“符巧”的舞台表演，荣获文化部第十二届文华奖“文华表演奖”。

《古漠边城》

Ancient Desert Frontier City is a large-scale original Chinese ethnic dance drama created by Professor Zhang Jianmin of Beijing Dance Academy.
The production was developed collaboratively by artists and students from the Department of Choreography, the Youth Dance Company, and the Department of Chinese Ethnic and Folk Dance at Beijing Dance Academy, together with participants from the China Conservatory of Music.
Inspired by Shen Congwen’s novel Border Town, the work relocates the story to the mysterious ancient kingdom of Loulan in China’s Western Regions.
Through distinctive dance and musical languages inspired by the cultures of the region, the production tells the story of a young Loulan woman, Nilubai’er, and two brothers.
Dongmei portrayed Nilubai’er, the production’s sole female lead and central dramatic character.
Through her love, choices, and fate, Nilubai’er drives the emotional and narrative arc of the production while embodying its distinctive imagery of the ancient Western Regions.

《古漠边城》是由北京舞蹈学院张建民教授编创的大型民族舞剧，由北京舞蹈学院编导系、青年舞团、中国民族民间舞系师生，与中国音乐学院相关专业师生共同参与创作。
作品以沈从文小说《边城》为创作灵感，将故事置于神秘的古代西域楼兰，通过浓郁的西域民族舞蹈与音乐语汇，讲述楼兰少女尼露拜尔与一对兄弟之间的爱情故事。
黄冬梅在剧中饰演唯一女主角尼露拜尔。
作为全剧情感与叙事的核心人物，尼露拜尔的爱情、选择与命运构成作品的重要情感线索，并展现独特的西域文化意象。
